Overview

PawCast is provided by Northstar Forge. PawCast provides dog walking guidance based on local weather, estimated pavement heat, and dog profile settings. This policy explains how PawCast accesses, uses, shares, retains, and protects information in the PawCast Android app, get-pawcast.com, support messages, and marketing campaigns.

PawCast does not require user accounts. You do not need to register, sign in, or provide a password to use PawCast.

Information We Use

  • Dog profile settings such as name, size, coat colour, age, breed, flat-faced breed setting, icon choice, and optional dog photo.
  • Selected locations, current device location when enabled, saved locations, place search text, and forecast coordinates.
  • Forecast results, walk-risk scores, notification preferences, app settings, support icon unlock status, and first-use safety acknowledgement.
  • Email address, name, and message content if you contact PawCast or sign up through a PawCast newsletter or marketing campaign.
  • Basic technical information processed by service providers, such as IP address, request time, browser or device information, and security logs.

How Location Works

PawCast uses location only to get local weather and calculate dog walking guidance. If you use manual location, PawCast uses the place or coordinates you choose. If you enable current location, Android provides the device location to the app. PawCast stores the latest selected location on your device so widgets, background forecast refresh, and walk-safety notifications can work.

If you allow background location, PawCast may use location in the background when the app is closed to refresh forecasts for widgets and walk-safety notifications. PawCast does not create a user account, keep a PawCast location-history database, sell location data, or use location for advertising.

Forecast and place lookup requests send the selected coordinates or search text to PawCast's weather service and weather providers so weather data can be returned for that request.

How We Use Information

  • To show weather, estimated pavement heat, safe-walk guidance, widgets, and notifications.
  • To save preferences on your device and keep your selected dog profile and locations available between app launches.
  • To respond if you contact us for support.
  • To send newsletters, app news, promotions, or marketing emails only when you provide your email address through a campaign or sign-up flow.
  • To operate, secure, debug, prevent abuse of, and improve the app, website, and weather service.

What Stays On Your Device

Dog profile settings, saved locations, app preferences, cached forecasts, safety acknowledgement, and optional dog photo references are stored locally on your device. Dog photos selected in the app are not uploaded by PawCast. The app keeps access to the photo you choose so it can show it in your profile.

Storage And Retention

Local app data remains on your device until you change it, clear app storage, or uninstall PawCast. Forecast and search requests are not intentionally stored by PawCast as user profiles or location histories, but hosting and weather providers may keep short-term technical logs for security, diagnostics, billing, and abuse prevention.

Support messages and email campaign records are kept for as long as needed to respond, manage subscriptions, meet legal obligations, prevent abuse, or maintain business records.

Third-Party Services

Weather and place lookup requests may be processed by service providers such as Cloudflare and WeatherAPI.com so PawCast can provide local guidance. Email newsletter or campaign sign-ups may be processed by email, form, analytics, or marketing service providers used to run those campaigns. Support purchases are handled by Google Play; PawCast receives purchase status needed to unlock or confirm app support features, but does not receive full payment card details.

These providers process information under their own privacy policies and security practices.

Sharing

PawCast does not sell personal information. Information may be shared with service providers that help operate PawCast, when required by law, or when needed to protect PawCast, users, service providers, or the public.

Security

PawCast uses device storage, Android permissions, HTTPS requests, and service-provider controls to protect data. No system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Children

PawCast is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will review the request.

Your Choices

  • You can avoid current-location features by entering a location manually.
  • You can turn off current location in the app or revoke location permission in Android settings.
  • You can choose not to use the contact form or marketing sign-up flows if you do not want to provide your email address.
  • You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe option in those emails or by contacting PawCast.
  • You can request access, correction, deletion, or newsletter unsubscribe help by contacting PawCast.
